Barèges-Tourmalet ski resort.
Barèges Tourmalet is the biggest ski area in the FrenchPyrenees. Bareges & La Mongie are part of the Grand Tourmalet ski resort.

Hautacam ski resort.
Located 1500 m above sea level, this small resort is ideal for family holidays, ski beginners or mountain lovers. Slopes winding through the fir trees are very enjoyable.
The Hautacam ski resort overlooks the town of Argelès-Gazost as well as many small picturesque villages. The Hautacam ski area has 15 downhill ski runs, a sledge run, a snowshoe trail, and 15 kilometers of Nordic loops.

WALKS AND HIKES IN THE GAVARNIE VALLEY
Cirque de Gavarnie.
Listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Gavarnie is a wonderful natural amphitheater.
This nature’s most unique and spectacular creation is surrounded by 16 peaks over 3000-metre high and has numerous waterfalls tumbling down the wall within the tallest in Europe la Grande Cascade de Gavarnie.
Pont d’Espagne.
In the heart of the Hautes Pyrénées National Park, the Pont d'Espagne opens the way to the Cayan and Marcadeau valleys.
Located at 1500m above sea level in the commune of Cauterets, it is the starting point of numerous hikes and walks such as the Gaube lake.
Brèche de Roland.
Roland's Breach is an impressive natural gap, 40m across and 100m high, at an elevation of 2804 m in the Pyrenees on the border of Aragón, northern Spain, and Hautes-Pyrénées. According to the legend the breach was cut by Earl Roland, a nephew of Charlemagne.
This is the finest day walk in the Gavarnie area, indeed one of the finest in the whole Pyrenees.
Gaube lake.
A majestic site with its emerald green waters that you can reach either by foot or by chairlift. A truly breathtaking hike around the lake and surrounding valley.
You will admire the Vignemale (the highest peak in the French Pyrenees) at the bottom of the valley.
Pic du Midi
Major place of science, Pyreneanism and tourism, the Pic du Midi culminates at 2877 m of altitude; it offers outstanding views over the Pyrenean chain.
Since 1880, the peak has been a Mecca for scientists from all over the world to observe the universe and the stars. You can reach this marvellous station by foot or by cable car.
Pyrenees National Park.
The Hautes Pyrenees National Park comprises the Aure, Barèges, Cauterets and Azun valleys. It protects the exceptional biodiversity of this area, which boasts some of the most original flora in Europe, as well as incredible wildlife (bearded vulture, isard, marmot).
You will find numerous marked paths and you can also go with a guide who will make you discover the fauna and the flora and make you understand why it is important to protect this wonderful part of the French Pyrenees.

The animal park located in Argelès-Gazost , 5 km from the campsite, has been elected best animal/nature leisure site in France in 2016.
The park offers its visitors an itinerary through which you can enjoy nature and see animals in their habitats (hispanic goats, mouflons, bears, chamois, marmots, etc.), walking among red deer and much more.
The visitor will also learn about the flora to help them to distinguish the different kinds of trees: holm oaks, pine trees, oaks, holm oaks,...
Pibeste National Reserve. Bird of prey observatory. The campsite is located at the foot of the bird of prey reserve.
At the entrance of the Gaves valley, this nature reserve will make you discover a particular heritage of the Pyrenees; steep limestone cliffs, rocky areas, sparse forest.
Thanks to a warm microclimate, here the Mediterranean-type plants grow incredibly well If you stay at Campsite le Rural, just look up and you will see vultures, falcons and other birds of prey flying.
Lourdes.
Lourdes attracts thousands of visitors every year, whether they are believers, atheists, or of another religion. Lourdes has a sanctuary, 3 basilicas and above all the Massabielle Cave where an incredible religious fervour and a recollection atmosphere reigns.
But Lourdes is also a medieval city with lovely small streets in the old town, a castle standing on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Marian city. Just walk around and discover some of its history and its high Pyrenean heritage.
